About Grace Grief Yoga
Denver, Colorado

It is not possible to live without experiencing loss.  Grief is our mind, body and spirit's response to loss.  Oftentimes we focus on healing our grieving mind through counseling and conversation, but we forget that our mind is intricately connected to our body and spirit.  Grief resides in our body.  If we attend to the grief, sadness and sorrow within our physical body, we can move through our pain instead of around it. Yoga is one way to experience this transformation within the grief journey.  Yoga, simply put, is union; union of mind, body and spirit.   Grace Grief Yoga offers a safe place to move through your grief, without judgment or expectation, and reconnect your mind, body and spirit.

I was thrown into a deep and dark grief journey upon the unexpected death of my younger brother.  Matt, affectionately known as Mattie, was 27 years old when he died. I had no idea it was possible to feel my heart break, but I experienced actual pain in my heart in the months that followed his untimely death. I was not conscious that my physical posture shifted. I was literally hunched over, trying to protect my broken heart. Yoga has been a profound part of my continued healing. It has helped me literally stand taller and open my heart back up to life.

It is because of my personal experience with loss and grief, as well as my background in social work and yoga, that I want to offer yoga classes specifically to people who are grieving.   I will never move on from losing my younger brother, but I trust that I will continue to move forward through the healing grace of yoga. I hope to offer compassionate support to others along the way.
